Riva 1920
Brands
Established in 1920 in Cantù, under the leadership of Maurizio Riva, the company transformed the tradition of cabinetmaking into a manifesto of sustainable design. The real turning point came in the 1990s when, inspired by the wood culture he discovered in New York, Maurizio introduced a revolutionary philosophy: the exclusive use of solid wood sourced from crontolled reforestation, processed with formaldehyde-free glue and finish only with natural oils and waxes. Entering the world of Riva 1920 means choosing well-being. In a age where the home is pour refuge, the company guarantees furnishing that do not emit harmful substances, preserving health and offering an authentic tactility that only real wood can provide. But excellence goes further, giving new life to legendary materials: the ancient Kauri from New Zealand (extracted adter 50,000 years underground), the Briccole of Venice recovered from the lagooon, the new life of barrique wood, and the fragrant Cedar of Lebanon. This dedication to the material finds its home in the Riva Center, the iconic building designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, which houses an evocative Wood Museum with over 5,000 historic pieces and the famous Pangea table, symbol of Expo 2015.
